Mozilla Thunderbird is a free, cross-platform email client developed by the Mozilla Foundation as a counterpart to Mozilla Firefox.

Thunderbird's 1.0 release was met with over 500,000 downloads within the first three days of its release [1], and over 1,000,000 in 10 days [2]. 1.0.2 is the latest release.

On December 7, 2004, version 1.0 was released, which received over 500,000 downloads within its first three days of release [3], and over 1,000,000 in 10 days.

On June 2, 2005, Mozilla Thunderbird 1.1 Alpha 1 was released. Statistics of it's downloads aren't yet available. A stable release has not yet been released. [4]

Thunderbird is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux in many different languages [5].
